Students in each class will gain insights into the problems in teaching each topic and become aware of the materials available and methods of instruction geared to the special type of student. Education majors only.
Expected Seminar Outcomes: 1. The ability to design appropriate learning activities involving a variety of mathematical topics to promote discovery among students. 2. Use mathematics to explore real world phenomena. 3. Doing mathematics which engages students as active participants. 4. Plan tasks that allow students to construct new meaning by building on or extending their prior knowledge. Suggested Topics: The following is a list of topics from which the instructor might choose, depending on the interests of both instructor and students.
