Virtual Reality Modeling Language using Silicon Graphics
Workstations
Through a recent National Science Foundation Instrumentation and
Laboratory
Improvement grant, Transforming 3D Space with Virtual Reality Modeling
Language
(VRML). Among other things, the grant funded several Silicon
Graphics, Inc.,
(SGI) Unix workstations. These workstations combine the power of Unix
with a
friendly graphical user interface. They come bundled with many high
end Web
development tools for VRML, Java, HTML, C++, database connectivity,
image
editing, video editing, and audio editing. Several of these tools
will be
demonstrated during the colloquium, with a special emphasis on VRML.
Partial support for this work was provided by the National Science
Foundation's
Division of Undergraduate Education through grant DUE #9751620.
